Mazal Tov for the upcoming Bat Mitzvah of your daughter! It is our pleasure to help you with the Bat Mitzvah preparation and celebration.

According to Jewish tradition, a Bat Mitzvah reflects a major turning point in the life of a Jewish girl and as such, we strongly believe that every Jewish girl should celebrate this milestone in a meaningful and traditional manner. At FREE of Brighton Beach, we are committed to imbuing your daughter with an enthusiasm for her Jewish heritage and enriching her knowledge of Torah and Jewish traditions.

The Bat Mitzvah Curriculum serves as a forum for discussion and discovery, encouraging the Bat Mitzvah girl to learn more about this unique time in her life. This program offers a flexible syllabus and structure to meet each girl’s unique needs and interests as well as to facilitate busy schedules. Lessons are typically one hour a week, but can be adjusted based on your preferences and needs.

The Bat Mitzvah girl will be paired with a tutor and will go through a curriculum that will include:

  • Jewish concepts, values and traditions

  • A brief history of the Jewish Nation

  • An overview of Jewish Holidays and Fast days

  • Famous Biblical Women and lessons that can be learned from them

  • The three women’s mitzvot and their importance to Jewish survival

  • Jewish Life Cycles

  • In depth learning of her Torah portion

  • The Land of Israel

  • Hebrew Reading (time allowing)

After the majority of the studying has been accomplished, the Bat Mitzvah girl and her tutor will prepare a Bat Mitzvah speech in connection with her Torah portion and\or various topics she learned during her preparation.

Depending on the Bat Mitzvah curriculum of your choice, a minimum of ten-twelve lessons is necessary to sufficiently prepare the bat mitzvah girl.

Mitzvah Mission

We suggest and encourage the Bat Mitzvah girl to start lighting Shabbat candles every Friday evening when she begins her training as she will begin to study the history and customs of this tradition.
