Holiday Programs

ROSH HASHANAH & YOM KIPPUR

Our Synagogue offers meaningful High Holiday Prayer Services, with Russian and English prayerbooks.

Services are led by world-renowned Cantor Avraham Pressman, from Jerusalem, Israel accomponied by beautiful vocal choir of professionals and young children.

SUKKOS:                          

Our Community Sukkah is open to the public 24/8 throughout the Sukkos holiday.

Sukkos on the Boardwalk brings music, Lchaim, dancing and a real Sukkah to the Brighton Beach Boardwalk (between Brighton 4th and Brighton 6th Streets).

Sukkos Cafe is a cozy evening of shmoozing, dancing, eating and GAMES! Each year, participants take part in a Jewish Trivia Game Show such as “Jewpardy!” or “Who Wants to be a Millionare?” Light Buffet includes coffees, bar, sushi, pastas and desserts.

SIMCHAS TORAH

Simchas Torah at the Brighton 6th Street Synagogue are legendary for the liveliest dancing in town. Hakafot with the Torah are followed by a march through the streets of Brighton to Manhatten Beach. This is definitely one night not to miss!

CHANUKAH

Every year, F.R.E.E. hosts Public Menorah Lightings each night of Chanukah at the Grand Menorah on the corner of Brighton Beach and Coney Island Avenues. Each lighting features special guest dignitaries and community leaders, live music, free latkes, donuts, l’chaim and gifts for the children.

Come out and celebrate on Brighton Beach Avenue every night of the week of Chanukah. There is something for everyone to enjoy, from music, singing, dancing, donuts, latkes, Lchaim for adults and dreidels and “gelt” for the kids.

Chanukah Lights Dinner

Join our annual fundraising dinner for an evening of elegance and ambiance as we celebrate the holiday of lights, and mark our 20 years of service to the Russian-Jewish community.

Our annual “Chanukah Lights Dinner” is a special fundraiser held each year to honor our supporters, our accomplishments and make new resolutions for the future.

PURIM

Each year, our Purim Masquerade and Party follows another unique theme. The Traditional Megillah Reading, accompanied by slide show pictorial narration, is followed by a Costume Contest for adults and children. Buffet Dinner, Dancing and fun for all ages tops the evening!

PESACH

Our Communal Pesach Seder is a special opportunity to join in with other Russian-Jewish families and individuals for an inspirational evening of stories, traditions and singing.

LAG BAOMER

Our Family Barbeque is loads of fun as we commemorate this special Jewish holiday.  Games, prizes and carnival booths abound amid delicious barbequed delights.

SHAVUOS

All the children in our community look forward to our Shavuos Ice Cream Party. Hear the Ten Commandments! Test Jewish Knowledge! Win Prizes! Eat Ice Cream! [It is traditional to eat dairy products on Shavuos.
